How to Reset ILOM passowrd on SunFire X4100

Following is the procedure which describes how to reset the root password for ILOM SP(Service Processor) to default changeme.

1. Shut down the server to standyby power mode, either by init 0 or pressing and releasing power button on front panel.

2. Disconnect the power cord from the server.

3. If the server is in the rack slide the server, so that you will be able to remove the main cover. If you not able to then remove the server from the rack.

4. Remove the main cover from server.

5. Next step is to install jumper on J12 ( which is used to recover passowrd). When you open the cover you will see the J12 on the motherboard.

6.After this is done put the main cover back to the server.

7. Reconnect power cord to the server. The server powers up to standy power mode. Return the server to main power mode by pressing and releasing the power button from front panel.

8.Note you should fully power on the server to complete the reset.

9. Now login to the ILOM as user root and password as changeme.

10. Now reset the password.

set /SP/users/root password

Enter the password:

11. Power down the server and remove the jumper. If you do not remove the jumper , the password will be changeme.
